Everybody yearns the opportunity to show off a long and luxurious beard that will give them the sexy, manly look that they desire. Unfortunately, not everyone is blessed with the right genes to grow a beard without a hassle. While you can’t change genetic causes of poor or uneven growth, there are several ways you can help encourage your natural facial hair to grow in thicker and fuller.
Be patient and commit to growth
One of the reasons many men struggle to grow a beard quickly is they often give up just at the point where progress is being made. You might be frustrated that you are not able to grow a beard that is as full as you would like it to be. The real problem might not be lack of growth, but lack of time. Do not shave your beard if it seems patchy and incomplete. As the hairs become longer, the slower-growing follicles will have time to sprout their own hairs. Gradually, the patchy gaps will eventually be hidden, both by longer hairs and the slower, shorter hairs growing in as well. After about four weeks of growth, you might want to visit a good professional barber to line-up and shape your beard to hide any imperfections you might have.
Make lifestyle changes
Pay attention to your diet –A balanced diet will give your body all the nutrients it needs to grow and function properly. Raisins, sorghum, beef, eggs, fish and almonds are example of foods that are rich in nutrients to boost beard growth. Check out this article for an in-depth understanding of why these foods might help in beard growth.
Exercise regularly – Exercise increases blood circulation and keep testosterone levels high. Short intense workouts will cause testosterone to increase faster and will also prevent it from declining.
Minimize stress – Cortisol has been found to reduce testosterone levels and chronic stress can also constrict blood vessels, causing hairs to receive fewer nutrients leading to slow growth.
Get plenty of sleep – Sleep is the time your body grows and heals. To keep testosterone high, be sure to get at least eight hours of sleep every night.
Don’t smoke. Smoking can also lead to hair loss, as this study points out.
Use a beard growth oil
We took our time to research and develop a natural beard growth oil and then tested it on five volunteers who responded positively well to it. Upon its success, we named it The Magic Potion due to its ability to works wonders on the face. The Magic Potion is crafted to help activate your facial hairs and boost your beard growth for a thicker, fuller and stronger beard. Most of our customers have seen great results as early as 4 weeks of use!
Here are key ingredients in The Magic Potion that promote beard growth:
- Peppermint essential oil – A study compared peppermint essential oil with Minoxidil and surprisingly, it performed better than Minoxidil in promoting hair growth.
- Cedar-wood essential oil – One study shows that almost half of the people experienced hair growth after 7 months of massaging essential oils (containing cedar-wood) on their scalp.
- Kukui oil – Rich in Omega-3 fatty acids and Vitamin C & E, Kukui oil promotes hair growth while reducing hair loss as well. It provides your hair with all the nutrients it needs to grow healthy and strong.
Take supplements
Do beard-boosting supplements work? Unless you’re deficient of vitamins and minerals, supplements that promise thicker and fuller beards do not have any scientific evidence to show that they work.
Your hair needs vitamin A to stay moisturized and grow. Vitamin B help carry oxygen and nutrients to your scalp, which aids in hair growth. Vitamin C is needed to make collagen and can help prevent hair from aging. There’s some evidence that vitamin D can activate hair follicles that have become dormant and create new ones. Vitamin E helps prevent oxidative stress and boost hair growth.
While you can fix all of your underlying deficiencies by simply eating a wholesome nutritious diet, you could also add in a simple inexpensive multivitamin supplement to cover your bases.
Consider using Minoxidil
Minoxidil is the only over-the-counter medication to improve hair-growth approved by the FDA for use by both men and women. It is widely accepted that Minoxidil 5% is safe and effective for hair regrowth.
Minoxidil seems to work quite reliably and almost everyone using it is reporting some gains. It kicks in most often between 1-2 months, and has kicked in for a strong majority of people by 3 months. You might reasonably expect a 25% increase in beard “coverage” through using minoxidil. It should be noted that Minoxidil has to be used for long periods (6 months to 2 years) to ensure results are permanent otherwise there is a risk of losing gains. Minoxidil, like any other drug, comes with side effects; the most common being skin dryness, itchiness and a faster heartbeat.
Beard transplant
For some, nature was just not kind, and no matter what you try, whiskers refuse to call your face “home.”If your face lacks the necessary follicles to grow a bushy beard, there is one final step you can take, a beard transplant. Follicles are removed from the back of your head (where hair most resembles beard hair) and transplanted onto your face.
